Vascular Access Guidelines: AVA 2025, INS 2024, ERPIUP 2023 | 21/05/26

Webinar – 21 May 2026, from 11:00 AM to 1:30 PM

A webinar dedicated to the latest international guidelines on vascular access — AVA 2025, INS 2024 and ERPIUP 2023 — explored from a perspective that is too often overlooked: the patient’s point of view.

The patient receiving vascular access is not simply the passive recipient of a technical procedure. They are a person with a story, expectations, fears and a daily life to protect.

Starting from the real experiences of two patients, Emanuela and Giulia, the webinar will examine how clinical guidelines address key aspects such as procedural pain, shared decision-making, quality of life, communication and informed consent.

Registration closes on 19 May 2026 at midnight

Main topics

The webinar will focus on three central questions:

Procedural pain
How can healthcare professionals reduce pain and anxiety during vascular access procedures?

Choice of device and insertion site
How can the patient be truly involved in the choice of the most appropriate vascular access device?

Quality of life
How do mobility, work, autonomy and body image influence the patient’s experience?

Description

This webinar reverses the usual perspective: it does not start from the guidelines to reach the patient, but from the patients themselves.
Through the stories of Emanuela and Giulia, the discussion will highlight how the recommendations of AVA 2025, INS 2024 and ERPIUP 2023 can be read and applied with greater attention to the person, not only to the procedure.
The meeting will involve clinicians, vascular access specialists, psychologists and institutional representatives, with the aim of encouraging a more informed, shared and patient-centred approach to vascular access care.
